5 Make-Up Looks For Declaring Your Patriotism This Independence Day.

Painting your entire face to resemble the tricolor may be the most obvious way of flaunting your patriotic streak at a cricket match, but this Independence Day, you have a couple of other options. Whether you’re a spunky makeup enthusiast or a traditional, quintessential Indian girl – scroll on to find the perfect look to suit your own unique style:

 

  • THE BOLD TRI-COLOUR LOOK

For the confident divas who love to rock a bold lip, this is the perfect look. With subtlety out the window, you can be blatantly obvious about your national pride while still looking chic

What you need:

  • Matte lipstick in a bright orange hue
  • Orange and green eyeshadow
  • Black mascara
  • Bronzer

How to:

  • Start off with your preferred base (any foundation, concealer or BB cream of your choice).
  • Apply the orange eyeshadow to your upper eye lid in such a way that it is darkest in your crease and lightest at the inner corners of your eyes. Apply the green eyeshadow to your lower lash line, keeping it as close to the lash line as possible. Additionally, you can apply a lighter eye shadow or highlighter to the inner corners of the eye to make them pop.
  • Using a powder brush, apply bronzer to hollows of you cheekbones
  • Finally, apply the lipstick to complete your look.

 

 

  • THE MAKE-UP PROFESSIONAL LOOK

If you’re already familiar with makeup and know all the jargon about blending and shadows and brushes, you definitely have the skills to expertly pull off this look, without looking like a clown.

What you need:

  • Red Lipstick
  • Matte orange, green and white eyeshadow
  • Black eyeliner

How to:

  • Start off with your preferred base (any foundation, concealer or BB cream of your choice).
  • Thickly apply white eyeshadow to the middle of your eyelids. Begin applying orange shadow from the inner corners of the eye and stop just before the middle of the lid, leaving more than half the white shadow exposed. Then, apply the dark green eyeshadow in the crease of the eye as well as the outer corners. Blend all the shadows together as well as outward.
  • Apply a thin layer of black eyeliner on your upper lash and draw a wing outward.
  • Finish with the red lipstick; you’re ready to go!  

 

  • THE TRADITIONAL BINDI LOOK

If you’re the quintessential Indian girl, with jhumkas hanging from your ears and kurtas filling most of your closet – or even if you just want to pretend to be that girl for one day – this could be your go-to look.

What you need:

  • A nude lipstick
  • Kohl stick (Kajal)
  • Black eyeshadow
  • Large red/orange bindi
  • Clear Gloss

How to:

  • Start off with your preferred base (any foundation, concealer or BB cream of your choice).
  • Apply a layer of black eyeshadow on your upper lid, close to your lashes. Using a fluffy brush, blend the shadow outward
  • Line your waterline as well as your upper eyelid with Kohl (you could wing the liner, alternatively).
  • Apply the nude lipstick and layer it with gloss.
  • Take a little bit of the same gloss and dab it onto your cheekbones and bridge of your nose for a dewy glow.
  • Top off the look with a bindi right in the middle of your forehead.

What you need:

  • Blue eyeliner
  • Black mascara
  • Lash curler (optional)

How to:

  • Using the blue eyeliner, draw a thick line over the length of your eyelid and drag it out to create a cat eye.
  • Line your waterline with the same liner.
  • Curl your lashes and apply the mascara in an outward motion.

What you need:

  • Green, orange and blue highlighter
  • False eyelashes
  • Lash glue
  • Any lipstick

How to:

  • Start off with your preferred base (any foundation, concealer or BB cream of your choice).
  • Measure the lashes against your eyes and cut off the extra length using scissors.
  • Apply the eyelash glue on the back of the lashes.
  • Hold the lashes as close to your upper lash line as possible until the glue dries.
  • Then, Line up your highlighters and get them separately on your brush, without mixing them, in any order you like.
  • Finally, just swipe the brush on your cheekbones for a subtle Independence Day glow.
