10 Tips And Tricks For A Better Salon Experience
April 22, 2017

Once in a while, we all like to pamper ourselves and get all groomed up. Everyone likes to take special care of their body once in a while, and when we do, we want it to be handled in a Salon.

However, despite good intentions and positive vibes, an appointment can go south in a blink of an eye if you don’t follow some basic tips to take extra care of ourselves.

Research Your Stylist

If you’re hoping to sport a new Hairstyle, make sure you know the stylist. Your hair speaks volumes about your personality and carrying around an ill-suited Hairstyle can be a huge turn-off.

Extra: Ask for opinions from people and notice their Haircut. Take pictures along with you to show the stylist if you’re hoping for perfection because when it comes to Salon communication, words don’t do justice as much as pictures do.

Show Up With Clean Hair

This rule is especially important when you’re hoping to get your hair coloured so make sure you get them washed before. When hair is clean, it allows for better hair colour penetration as the dye won’t hit any hurdles like dirt or oil.

Inspect The Amenities

It is extremely important to check whether the towels, masks, and strips used by the Salon staff are clean and hygienic. Make sure their creams aren’t outdated and suit your skin.

Extra: Do not forget to apply oil, gel or a soft washcloth if you’re prone to rashes after getting your eyebrows or upper lip done.

Check Yourself Before Waxing

No matter where you’re Waxing, check the skin before you go in for your appointment. Broken skin or inflammation needs to heal before you’re ready to wax.

Extra: If you have moles or beauty marks, point them out to the staff so they can be protected during the Waxing process.

Moisturize

Moisturize well on the days leading up to your appointment. Healthy, well-moisturized skin allows the wax to release more easily. But beware, too much moisturizer could coat the hair and interfere with the wax’s grip, so avoid moisturizing on the day of your Waxing session.

Don’t Shave Your Arms And Legs

Shaving your legs sounds like a polite thing to do before getting a Pedicure or Manicure, but it’s a bad idea.

Every time you shave, the razor creates tiny nicks in your skin. You may not feel them or see them, but they’re there. A nick doesn’t even have to draw blood to be vulnerable to infection. Those abrasions are like open doors inviting bacteria into your body.

Keep Cell Phones Aside

Spending time on your phone (or other technology) takes time away from the important relationship you are cultivating with your stylist. Moreover, it can shift your posture, slouch your shoulders and move your head, all of which can negatively impact your Hairstyle.

Aftercare For Your Skin After Getting A Facial

After a Facial treatment, it will benefit you to change or wash your pillowcases to avoid pressing bacteria into your skin while you sleep. Use only freshly-washed towels on your skin. Dab your skin rather than wiping it; dabbing it lightly will not irritate the skin, as it will be extra sensitive after the treatment.

P.S. For a minimal of 24 hours, you must not wash your face with any soap, facial wash or even water. Your face has just been thoroughly deep cleaned, so you should avoid touching it or using any type of chemical on it.

Hair Care

Always tie your hair carefully if going for bleaches, upper body wax and spray tans. It would make sure that they do not come in between your treatment and you won’t end up losing any hair. Long hair can be hard to manage while undergoing these, so proper caution is advisable.

Know What’s Best For You

Stylists and other Salon staff are not comfortable working on people who do not know what is best suited for them. “Do whatever you want” can be a pretty dreadful statement, you should not blame the professionals if the results turn out to be contrary to what you expected. You must be cordial and explain what you want, only then can you achieve the look you dreamt off.
