Why Is Your Hair Not Growing?
June 12, 2017

It can be quite a task to take care of your hair, especially when you put in a lot of effort and the results are negligible. Is something wrong with your regimen? Maybe you are doing too much, or maybe you’re doing too little. There are some common mistakes that almost all of us make. As you try to figure out what the problem is, here is a list of possible reasons as to why your hair might not be growing.

  1.  Irreparable Damage

Chemical damage is one of the most probable reasons your hair is not growing. The good news is that hair grows constantly. If you decide to quit abusing your locks, the new hair will remain healthy forever. It is important to understand and keep in mind that one has to start from scratch.

Once you get rid of the damaged hair through regular trims, you will start to see the health of your hair improve drastically and the length will follow shortly thereafter. It’s a process, ladies!

  1. Mistreating Ends

It is quite possible that you do not regard the ends of your hair as very important and thus fail to take care of them sufficiently well. If your ends just never get straight enough, they are highly susceptible to damage. What one has to understand is that hair cannot grow when the ends are damaged. It is a vicious cycle! Before stressing about the length of your hair, it’s important to start taking care of the damaged ends. Oiling, among other things, is an effective solution.

  1. Overprocessing

If you are inclined towards shading and straightening your hair, you must remember that the longer the chemical is left in your hair, the more bonds are being broken. These bonds are what holds your hair together. When too many of them are broken, your hair becomes weak. While usage of heat and chemicals can solve the problems of tangled and frizzy hair, they can adversely impact the volume of the hair and the quality of the strands. Your hair might, thus, be left more damaged than improved when you attempt to style it using synthetic methods. Heat misuse and ingredient ignorance are some of the reasons for damaged hair. The natural quality of the hair may be compromised.

This is not to say that one should abstain from using these techniques. However, you should choose carefully where to get your hair straightened or coloured. The chemicals and machines should be of high quality and should only be operated by experts. Otherwise, it can result in damaged hair. Thus, choose your parlour wisely.

Often we are tempted to go to our small local Beauty Parlours for these services because we believe it will be cost-effective. In other situations, we try to style our hair using chemicals at home. But when we weigh the situation carefully, it is evident that the risks of damaged hair involved in these economical solutions are far greater than the costs of the same services in trusted Salons. 1. Lack of Moisture

Moisturization is an important technique for avoiding hair damage. Hair cannot grow in a brittle and dry environment. Repeat after me, “Moisturization is a necessity!”

In addition, if you follow hair advice blindly without considering what suits your hair, you will never get anywhere. Experimenting with different techniques so as to learn what causes your hair to develop or degenerate is vital. After all, what’s the point of using proteins if they don’t improve the condition of your hair? Hair care is a very personal regime, and your hair needs to be treated with patience and a nurturing attitude. Once you understand the unique nature of your hair, long beautiful locks cannot be far behind.
